How to Make it Through an Impossibly Busy Workday

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When I’m in the zone, I’m in the zone. It’s work, work, work until my focus starts to loosen and mind begins to wander. But these work stretches can last for hours at a time and before I know it, it’s dark outside and my eyes are still glued to my laptop.

This happens when I’m really tuned in and absorbed by my work… But who’s tuned in every time they sit down to get things done?
Make Time For Breaks
Sometimes I spend hours staring blankly at my computer, searching for inspiration or motivation that just won’t come. When this happens, I have to remind myself that it’s okay to take a break. In fact, it’s encouraged!
As a remote worker, I don’t abide by traditional lunchtime or catch up with coworkers around the water cooler. Instead, I have to actively remind myself to take a break and allow my brain to recharge.
If I’m not accomplishing anything, I’ll close my laptop and hit the gym or go for a hike. Exercising as a break from work really helps me clear my head and return to my computer feeling refreshed and ready to go. It also really helps keep my mood elevated to get me through the grind.
