What You Might Not Realize is Affecting Your Focus if You Work From Home

When I started working remotely several years ago, I read an article about how clutter creates a stressful environment in your subconscious, and whether you realize it or not, this detracts from your focus and makes it harder to accomplish tasks. This is something that really stuck with me and ever since, I make sure that when I sit down to work, I have a clean, open space in front of me, free from any clutter or visible distractions.
Create a Productive Work Space
If you’re the messy type, it helps to have a designated workspace to sit at every day and keep tidy. Instead of bumbling around the house looking for the next stack of magazines to set your computer on top of, sit in the same, clean area and see how it affects your progress.
That being said, it’s natural to not be able to focus at home. While I know some people who love to work from their beds or who sit in the same seat at the kitchen table to work every day, sometimes you’ve just got to get out.

A productive workspace can be whatever works best for you. Maybe it’s in the cozy booth at your favorite diner, a hidden corner at the coffee shop down the street, or on your front porch when the sun is shining. Maybe you work best when surrounded by other productive people at a coworking space, get the most done in loud spaces, or need complete silence to work.
